Automation 11 – Daily Notes in Evernote

I have been playing with automation software to backup my computer, move files around, do some data entry, and organize my life. All of my automations so far.

Software/Accounts/Hardware required for this automation:

I currently have two daily notes that I wanted created everyday. One was for my worklog, so that I can easily keep track of what I do everyday. This is for things that don’t go into one of my other notes for record keeping for later use.

The other is a note that I am working on to keep track of daily health information. This one will be a simple list of when I woke up, when I went to bed, what I ate, and what exercise I did. I was thinking that this one would be an easy way to look back and see if there are any triggers for my migraines or other weird health issues. Also, I figured if I do it right I could parse the data and use it somehow later on.

To do this the easiest way:

  1. Go to ifttt.com and create a “date & time” trigger for early in the morning, before you normally wake up
  2. Then make the action be a new note in Evernote. I make the title be the date and set the notebook. For the health record, I put some initial data into the note – so I don’t have to rewrite it everyday.

I was thinking that it would be interesting to create a little service that would auto-create a formatted note for Evernote everyday specifically based on the day of the week (not day of month or year, unless there’s a specific use case for this). You can *almost* do this with ifttt which is my hesitation along with the fact that I might be the only fool who sees a use for this.  If you think it would be useful, tell me.E
